Special Processes Supervisor

Jonathan Wheeler is a food scientist and Special Processes Supervisor for the Retail Food Safety Department at the South Carolina Department of Agriculture. He is responsible for reviewing and approving “Special Process” HACCP food safety plans for retail food customers, providing training to retail food customers and retail food inspectors, and serving as an instructor for the SC Rapid Response Team. His over 25 years’ food science- and HACCP-related experience includes 16 years in commercial food laboratory management, designing environmental monitoring programs, investigating pathogen contamination events, and conducting GMP and HACCP audits. He is a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Certified HACCP Manager, certified in Juice HACCP and Seafood HACCP, and he is a graduate of Erskine College with a degree in chemistry.
