Director of Produce Safety

Brenda Morris serves as the AFDO Director of Produce Safety for the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO). In her role, she collaborates with NASDA, FDA, state, academia, and industry partners for the Produce Safety Rule. She also serves as an advisor to the AFDO Produce Committee.
Brenda is a lead trainer for AFDO and works on multiple cadres to deliver training to individuals and state programs. Brenda is an instructor for the Instructional Skills Training (IST) course, Basic Inspections and Investigations for Manufactured Food and Retail programs, Basic Inspections and Investigations for Produce, Taking your Presentation from Ordinary to Extraordinary, and the Program Managers Workshop. Brenda works with AFDO team members to develop other training opportunities and coordinates the events.
Brenda served as the Assistant Director for the Division of Food Safety for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services where she managed the Bureaus of Food Inspection (Retail and Manufactured Food), Dairy Industry, and the Food Laboratory programs. At FDACS she also served as the Bureau Chief and Environmental Administrator for the Bureau of Food Inspection (Retail and Manufactured Food). She has also worked as a field food inspector with FDACS, Georgia Department of Health and the City of Lubbock (TX) Health Department.
