Shawna Johnson, MPH is the Consumer Protection Coordinator at Boulder County Public Health, where she oversees the Food Safety Program with a focus on regulatory innovation, workforce development, and public health protection. With over 15 years of experience in food safety and a strong foundation in veterinary medicine, Shawna also holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology. Her multidisciplinary background bridges animal and human health, allowing her to approach foodborne illness prevention through a One Health lens. She leads initiatives to modernize inspection processes, expand oral culture learning models, and ensure regulatory equity. Shawna serves as Vice President of the Western Association of Food and Drug Officials (WAFDO) and plays an active role in national mentorship and FDA Retail Program Standards implementation.
