El Paso Water Vice President Gilbert Trejo oversees engineering, operations and technical services. Trejo served previously as Chief Operations Officer over Treatment and Production, as well as Chief Engineer, where he led all engineering design, planning and development, and project administration and construction management. Trejo is currently overseeing the utility’s implementation of its asset management program. Before coming to EPWater in 2014, he was an engineering consultant in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and later in El Paso. Prior to consulting, Trejo worked with the U.S. Geological Survey. Trejo is a current board member of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was past chair for the WateReuse Association and a former board member for the Water Research Foundation. Trejo is recognized as a water reuse expert as well as a published author on water reuse and water infrastructure topics. Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, a Certified Floodplain Manager and a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer, Trejo earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Master of Science in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, from the University of Texas at Austin. Growing up in the shadow of the seasonally flowing Rio Grande, Trejo fostered an appreciation for water management and irrigation. Trejo is profoundly grateful to raise his family with his wife and serve his community in his beloved hometown.
